Credits on Nyani

Make the most of Nyani with credits. Credits are a simple, flexible way to unlock paper rentals and AI-powered quiz generation without leaving the platform.

TL;DR

  • Buy credits from the header Credits button → “Buy” → select amount (multiples of 5) → pay → done.
  • Pricing:
    • 5 credits = MWK 50 (base rate)
    • Paper rental (24h): Undergrad = 5 credits, Masters = 10 credits
    • Generate quiz: 10 credits
  • Balance types: Free credits and Paid credits. The system always spends Free credits first, then Paid.

What are credits?

Credits are tokens you spend on Nyani to access premium features:

  • Paper rentals (24 hours)
  • AI-generated quizzes

Your balance is shown in the header at all times. Open the Credits dialog for a full breakdown: Free, Paid, and Total.

Pricing and conversions

Conversion

  • 5 credits = MWK 50
  • Credits can only be purchased in increments of 5.

Feature pricing

  • Paper rental (24 hours)
    • Undergrad paper: 5 credits per day (≈ MWK 50)
    • Masters paper: 10 credits per day (≈ MWK 100)
  • Generate a quiz: 10 credits base + 5 credits per PDF file (optional file attachments)

Notes:

  • Renting for multiple days multiplies the credit cost (e.g., 3 days Undergraduate = 3 × 5 = 15 credits).
  • Quiz generation with files: Base cost is 10 credits, plus 5 credits for each PDF file you attach (e.g., quiz with 2 files = 20 credits total).
  • File attachments are optional - you can still generate quizzes from topics alone for just 10 credits.
  • The system always deducts from Free credits first, then Paid credits.

How to buy credits

1) Open the Credits dialog

  • Go to the top-right of any dashboard page and click the Credits chip showing your current total.

2) Choose the amount

  • In the dialog, pick how many credits to buy.
  • Amounts must be multiples of 5 (e.g., 5, 10, 15…)
  • You’ll see the calculated price in MWK in real-time.

3) Checkout and pay

  • Click Buy Credits to proceed to the payment gateway.
  • Complete the payment.

4) Get credited automatically

  • After successful payment, your credits are automatically added to your balance.
  • The dialog’s breakdown (Free / Paid / Total) will reflect your new total.

How to rent papers with credits

1) Find a paper

  • Navigate to Dashboard → Find Papers.

2) Open the Rent dialog

  • Click Rent on the paper card.

3) Choose rental duration

  • Pick the number of days (each day = 24 hours of access).
  • The dialog shows a cost breakdown:
    • Cost per 24h: 5 credits (Undergrad) or 10 credits (Masters)
    • Total cost: days × per-day cost
    • Your balance: your total credits (Free + Paid)

4) Confirm the rental

  • If you have enough credits, click Confirm Rental.
  • You’ll see a brief Processing… state while we activate your rental.
  • On success, you’ll be redirected to My Papers.

If you don’t have enough credits, the button is disabled and the dialog will prompt you to add more credits first.

How to generate quizzes with credits

Requirement

  • You need at least 10 total credits to generate a quiz (base cost).
  • If you attach files, you need 10 + (number of files × 5) credits total.

1) Open the Generate Quiz dialog

  • Navigate to Dashboard → Quizzes.
  • Click Generate New Quiz.
    • If you have fewer than the required credits, the button is disabled and will prompt you to buy more.

2) Configure your quiz

  • Select topics and the number of questions.
  • Optionally attach PDF files to help the AI generate more accurate questions from your materials.

3) Review the credit breakdown

  • The dialog shows a cost card:
    • Base cost: 10 credits
    • Files: X × 5 credits (if files are attached)
    • Total cost: Base + Files
    • Your balance: your total credits (Free + Paid)

4) Generate

  • Click Generate Quiz.
  • You’ll see Generating… while we process.
  • On success, your credits are deducted and your quiz appears in the list.

Understanding your balance

Open the Credits dialog (top-right header) to see:

  • Free credits: bonus credits (promotions or grants). Always used first.
  • Paid credits: purchased credits.
  • Total: Free + Paid.

The system always deducts from Free first, then Paid. Your usage and deductions are handled securely on the server.

FAQs

What payment methods are supported?

Payments are processed via our payment partner. You’ll be redirected to a secure checkout.

How quickly are credits applied?

Almost instantly after a successful payment. If you don’t see them, try refreshing the page.

Do credits expire?

Free credits may be time-bound if issued as promotions. Paid credits typically don’t expire. Check any promotional terms presented when you receive free credits.

Are credits refundable?

Credit purchases are generally non-refundable once used. If you believe there’s been an error, contact support.

What happens if I start a rental but don’t use it?

Rentals are activated immediately after confirmation and last for the full duration selected.

Can I pay directly with cash for rentals/quizzes?

The new flow uses credits for both rentals and quiz generation. You can purchase credits in small increments as needed.

Troubleshooting

  • I paid but don’t see credits

    • Refresh the page and re-open the Credits dialog.
    • If still missing, note your payment time and contact support.

  • The Rent button is disabled

    • You might not have enough credits for the chosen days. Reduce days or buy more credits.

  • The Generate Quiz button is disabled

    • You need at least 10 credits (base cost). If you've attached files, you need 10 + (files × 5) credits total. Buy credits from the header.

Tips and best practices

  • Buy credits in the increments you need (5, 10, 15…) to avoid tying up extra funds.
  • For Masters papers, plan for 10 credits per day.
  • For quiz generation with PDF files, each file adds 5 credits to the base 10 credit cost.
  • Always check the cost breakdown card before confirming.
